“Gazprom” arranged gas production with Vietnam

As is reported by RIA “Novosti” “Gazprom” concluded an agreement with Vietnamese authorities about purchasing 49 percent of a joint venture developing two shelf blocks of this East Asian state. The reserves of gas-condensate deposits are estimated of 55,6 cubic meters of gas and 25,1 million tons of gas-condensate.
The gas production will be carried out at MocTinh and HaiThach blocks. 16 production boreholes 2000-4000 meters deep will be constructed to develop the deposits.
Yet in 2009 “Gazprom” concluded a number of agreements about setting up a joint venture named “Gazpromviet” with Vietnamese oil and gas group Petrovietnam. The companies are planning to cooperate both in Vietnam and in Russia. In particular they are going to develop jointly Nagumanovsk oil-and-gas condensate field in Orenburgskaya oblast and deposits in Komi as well.
Vietnam is relatively well provided with natural gas resources compared to the countries of East Asian region. According to the data from BP established reserves of Vietnam were 700 billion cubic meters in the end of 2010. This amount is a little more than Russia produces annually. However the volumes of production remain not great only making up about 9 billion cubic meters a year.
